This event was organized by my college’s club, photo tribe club.
They invited three professional photographer who is, David Thian, Max Lim and Sher Lim.
This is our conference room before the event start. This conference room can hold up to 10o seats.
This is our registration booth at our college lobby.
The first speaker started with David Thian. I met him during my cousin wedding ceremony, but before that i had went through his website and actually know abit about him. Last couple of weeks, I asked him about lens stuff and we had a short conversation on that day.I was so surprised that he called me when he came in to the conference room m surprisingly his memory was good.
Before knowing him in person, i thought he was just an ordinary photographer. Once he stood at the front, and started to opened his mouth to talk, I has changed my thoughts towards him, He was so humorous that day, and he was good at presenting himself and shared every bit of his life from young till now who become such a well known photographer not only locally but also intentionally.
Just a synopsis about him – ( I don really remember to arrangement of the timeline )
He was very good in drawing since he was young and his parents opened a coffee shop in his old town and he lead a simple life in his hometown ,Nibong Tebal.Since very young , he actually set his career target to be an comic illustrator and eventually he was very keen with his goal and mission and did not think of any other career which can replace it.Actually he wanted to study The one academy, but due to finacial problem, that did not allow him to study in the one academy. He was good at correcting error photos or photos that people thought to be thrown away, he will makes imperfect photo to become a perfect photo. Later on, he became an art teacher to gain some income to allow him to pursue his education in some college which he did not mention it.
One of the most interesting thing was, as i still can remember, he told us that last time student love to take like teenage life photos either is one person portrait or couple’s portrait is just like what teenage do now like post their photos to Facebook and all, so he actually started to take photos of some student who still in our local high school. Almost the whole form of student find him to take portraiture .
He went to Singapore to work quite a long period of time as a studio photographer.
One of the bridal shop director i had forgotten whether is in Malaysia or Singapore, find him to shoot for their bridal sample portrait, they offered him for 25 thousand for 16 albums. That 16 albums particular album was showcased at a bridal exhibition, many photographer came to visit the exhibition, Many people found that his photos was unique and really has his own style and stands out compare to others.
Later on,he used the 25k to opened his first ever photo studio, and at that time he had change his perspective of life to become a photographer which is never think become a photographer can be successful too.
He also did mention about his team and him is currently researching an apps for iPhone which have lots of different photo effect to let you try out
This is one of their 3D visual which was part of their try out . Everybody was trying with the 3D specs.
This is how it looks like. This one who holding the piece of paper of the 3D visual is the current president of Phototribe’s club.
The second speaker was sher lim who talking about Lomography which was something really new to us even though it was a quite long trend in Hong Kong and Taiwan. She was the owner of anolgue kaki. You can find her shop at 1st avenue Penang. She is sitting at the front row count from right hand side sitting beside David Thian.
The last speaker was Max Lim, he shared about videography which is something i crazy about now.He shared quite a number of video and he did share one of his own production of video using just Canon EOS 5D Mark 11, it was super amazing the video, it was so stunning.
